I thank again for the invitation. This was for me the third time to judge your beloved Dachshunds in Ireland..
As Ireland is only two years in FCI. I thought it reasonable to be generous in qualifications. It is too easy to give just GOOD to dogs out of proportion. It is too easy to give just GOOD to dogs out of proportion. Breeders need time to get dogs fitting to the FCI, read German-continental, type. I praise the club for inviting continental judges
Mini-Longs: Most of them need more length of neck and legs and less coat/just feathering is enough.
Smooths: Exc heads eyeshape, bodies and angulation/in the best of condition, but I missed correctly defined withers. Necks were rising vertically out of the topline, no sign of arch. In fact beautiful specimens, but far too big. Best Dog and Bitch were of exc. continental type.
Kaninchen Smooths: I was amazed by the exceptional quality so difficult to achieve in this size. They could win everywhere.
Mini-Smooths: Good quality. Some of them lacked length of leg.
Wires: Good heads, coats and construction but on the big side. Proportions should be 1:1.7-1.8.
Mini-Wires: Excellent quality, good size and proportions. Mind the shape of the eye and the length of the tail, some too short.
I noticed in only one dog missing big elements and in one dog wrongly shaped ribs which is a skeletal deformation.
I compliment you all for the condition of the dogs, movement and construction was very well overall, only a few narrow in front and/or rear
You were real sports.
